12th Whitby 'A' Beavers Medieval Night 1999

DylanBeaver Leader Dick Kauling tells us:

Thought I would share some photos of an event we did in the fall of 1999. Was a great success.

The last slide shows my son Dylan - he loved it and so did the entire colony.

That night the Beavers made a spear (out of waterpipe insulation and foam corners from packing crates) and a cardboard shield (decorated shield). They also learned about the Scouting handshake - i.e. put down your shield shake with left hand, etc.

Then each lodge had to defend the castle from ping-pong balls that were being tossed by the other lodges. Used 50 ping pong balls - not too many squashed by the end of the night.

Great event - took me 2 hours to fabricate the castle in my driveway (went to the Brick to get appliance/TV boxes). Afterwards used the castle for Halloween on my lawn then back to recycling.
