A modular course of Basic First Aid skills needed to sustain life and manage an accident scene. Provides students with specific knowledge and skills that will enable them to; recognize when first aid is needed, give first aid at an emergency scene, recognize when more qualified help or medical help is required.

- 7 1/2 to 8 hours (total)
- SCHEDULING
- Recommended - no less than 2 hour segments. 3 hour segments ideal.
- AGE SUITABILITY
- Designed for 10 years plus. Course presentation is adapted to suit the age of the course takers.
- LOCATION
- Choose a St. JA training center - Ajax, Bowmanville, Oshawa, Whitby, Port Perry/Uxbridge.
Our Instructors also train at your location (8 or more per class required).

PROFICIENCY TESTING AND CERTIFICATION
Each course segment will be concluded with a multiple choice written test delivered and accompanied by an open-class discussion of the test questions. Certificates will be distributed at the end of the last day of the course.
This St. John Ambulance course demonstrates contemporary methodologies, protocols and techniques to equip young babysitters with the knowledge to deal adequately with most situations that could arise while babysitting.
Created by a team of child care professionals, this course prepares young babysitters to care for infants, toddlers and older children confidently and competently, provide basic First Aid, cope with emergency situations, be aware of safety hazards and practice injury prevention.

PROFICIENCY TESTING AND CERTIFICATION
A certificate of proficiency will be issued at the conclusion of the course. All testing will be conducted in an open-class discussion and practical skill format accompanied by a multiple choice test.
Hey!, are you an avid nature nut who enjoys the great outdoors? St. John Ambulance's Wilderness First Aid course teaches valuable information on Cold Exposure, Bear Attacks, Burns, Gunshot Wounds, Dental Emergencies, Mushroom and Berry Poisoning.
There is a prerequisite of a current Standard First Aid or Emergency First Aid Certificate.
Instructor Training
Under the National Instructor Training and Development Program (NITDP), St. John Ambulance selects and prepares individuals with the qualities, skills and knowledge necessary to represent the organization.
Upon Successful completion of the course and monitoring procedure, the student will then be certified to teach Standard First Aid and Basic Rescuer CPR.

This course is designed to give specialized first aid training for those who work, live or travel in remote areas - wilderness recreation leaders, guides, mining exploration crews, resource workers and especially indigenous people who spend much time in remote hunting and fishing camps. Emphasis is on practical skills and improvisation, transportation and extended care in hostile environments.
