The Tale Slap

Issue #1 - January 1996

This is the first issue of "The Tale Slap" a newsletter designed to provide information to the Colony Scouters in Whitby District. In this issue we will be letting you know a little bit more about the other Beaver Colonies in Whitby District. We have provided the meeting night and Contact Leader for each Colony.

Why not contact another Colony and plan a shared meeting? Groups that have a special guest attending a meeting might like to extend an invitation for another Colony to share in the experience. This will not only provide a great opportunity for both Youth and Leaders to see how other Colonies operate but I can assure you it will also be great FUN!!!

We would like to give Colonies the opportunity to share games, craft ideas, local places to visit, etc. Please share things that worked and things that didn't. The aim of the TALE SLAP is to provide a forum for all Colony Scouters to share information!!!

We would also like to recognize Scouters in our District for their commitment to Scouting. The following Scouters attended Wood Badge Part I training in Whitby District - Mark McGowan, Kevin Canavan, Dan Cormier, Chris Gour, Steve Grant, Maurice Dumont, Mark Calverly, Christine Raynor, Mike Middleton, Chuck Lawrie, David Coupland, Karin Kennedy, Steven Crozier, David Lennox, Michael Thuot, John Taylor, Gary Pritchard, Dick Haney, Debbie Daniel, Doug Davies, Melanie Gibb, Oliver Grassl, Tully D'Alleva.

The following Scouters also attended Part 1 training sessions held in other Districts - John Molson, Carlos Sousa, Scheri Stamper, Dan Ling, Morris Pipher, Lucy Stirling, Lauren Sylvestre, Chris Mokendanz, Mark Gommer, Don Bridge, Filomena Gazeas, Ron McGillis. Cathy Knight, Connie Zammit and Peter Berry recently attended a Part II Wood Badge Training Course over three weekends. Congratulations to all!!!

The next issue of TALE SLAP will be going to press in early March. We will be highlighting some of the recent changes to the Beaver / Cub program and updating you about White Tail Slap and Log Jam. If you have any info or ideas you would like to share, please contact the ADC for Beavers.
