What was new on the Whitby Area Scouts Pages in previous years

2001:

June 22, 2001:
- Photo coverage of the 2000-2001 Whitby Area Council annual general meeting is now on the photos page.
June 21, 2001:
- A full selection of photos from the 2001 cuboree in Midland are now available. See the photos page.
- Picture of Oshawa Camporee winners from Whitby posted to the home page.
- Events page updated.
June 15, 2001:
- Invitation to the District Council annual meeting updated on the home page.
May 29, 2001:
- Roy Winter's pictures from the Cuboree in Midland are now available. See the photos page.
May 10, 2001:
- Added full information on the Spring 2001 First Aid course.
- Updated links to the first aid course information on the training page and rearranged the layout to make upcoming courses easier to spot.
- Updated links to the first aid course information on the events page and moved past events to the old events page.
- Some minor editing on the forms page to make things easier to find and also cleaned up some excess blank lines.
- Major addition of JavaScript for email addresses on today's updated pages will make it very difficult for robot programs to use these pages to build mailing lists for junk mail delivery.
May 9, 2001:
- The new District training application procedure is now available on the web site.
- Added a link to the new Insurance Incident report form on the forms page. (This form was included in the March, 2000, national Camping and Outdoor Activity Guide, but is now available as a separate file.)
May 8, 2001:
- Pictures from the CJ'01 Pre-Camp at Sandbanks Provincial Park and another set from the May camp of the 7th Whitby "B" Cub pack. See the photos page.
April 29, 2001:
- 64 pictures from Scoutrees planting day. See the photos page.
- Home page updated with info about the upcoming Open Registration Night.
April 26, 2001:

March 25, 2001:
- Added info on the May 8 Group Committee Workshop Module 4 and the June 9 first aid course. See the training page.
- Changes on 77 pages to eliminate references to pobox.com and to make it harder for spam robots to collect email addresses.
- New update mailing list for this page with quicker, clearer updates. (We are no longer allowed to advertise the previous update service.) Subscribe by sending a blank e-mail to whitbynew-subscribe@listbot.com and replying to the confirming e-mail you'll receive, or use the form at the top of this page.
March 4, 2001:

December 20, 2000:
- Revised Volunteer Screening Form on the forms page reflects the new Mission Statement recently adopted by Scouts Canada (was actually uploaded December 16).
- Added a few Christmas decorations to the home page (better late than never :-)
- New items added to events page.
December 9, 2000:
- Pictures from the Whitby Santa Claus parade (some of Scouts, some of others, photos by Roy Winter).
- Added the Volunteer Screening Form to the forms page.
November 25, 2000:
- Added link on the home page to pictures from Whitby Area's Fall Wood Badge Part I course.

- New single time available for Scouting for Food hand-ins at St. Vincent de Paul.
- Some re-organization and editing outdated reference on the home page. Some of the older news stories have moved to an Other news page.
November 16, 2000:
- Added note about first aid to training page.
- Revised hand-in procedure on Scouting for Food page.
October 24, 2000:
- Updated Scouting for Food page with drop-off time at beginning of December for last week of November.
- Added details on the upcoming camping and outdoor skills course.
- Added agenda for the Fall 2000 Wood Badge I course.
- Added general information and agenda for module 2 of the group committee workshop.
- Updated trail and road clean-up page with fall 2000 date.
- Added information for groups interested in participating in the Whitby Remembrance Day parade.
- Took further measures to discourage spam robots on the contacts page.
October 23, 2000:

October 21, 2000:
- Added information on Scouting for Food to the home page.
September 27, 2000:
- More additions and changes on the contacts page and the events calendar (added 1st Whitby Halloween dance).
- Deleted links to 2nd Whitby, as this group is closing.
- Updated all references to 1st Whitby's site, which can now be referenced by 1st.whitbyscouts.org.
- Corrected White Pine Region link on Scouting in Durham Region page.
- Added a link to easily track changes to White Pine Region's site (see top of this page).
- Added a link to the Camping/Outdoor Activity Guide Q&A at White Pine's site (see forms page).
- Updated the training page with a link to White Pine's new training page. Additional information on training hosted by Whitby will be added later.
- The link to get the Adobe Acrobat Reader now opens a separate window, making it easier for people to find the page they just left.
- Erased the "NEW" flags from various places.
- Added link to the Camp Samac Scout Shop (on the home page).
September 22, 2000:
- All known updates to contacts page are done. Several new service team members and two new positions added.
- Added several major Cub events to the events calendar.
- Corrected the agenda for the Group Committee workshop module 1.
September 21, 2000:
- Added preliminary pictures and report from Blastoff to the home page.
September 20, 2000:
- New navigation bar with site search added to the top of some major pages. Other pages will be gradually converted.

- New fundraising form with more specific instructions now available of the forms page.
- Added the Whitby Area Annual Report for 1999-2000 in PDF format.
- Checked 400 links throughout the site (most are internal), and revised or deleted out-dated links on 12 different pages. A little more work remains on this, but all the important links are corrected.
May 16, 2000:
- Re-organized the forms page. Links to the new national activity fill-in forms are now included.
- Added picture from McHappy Day to the home page.
May 12, 2000:
- Added 32 pictures plus a panorama of the Scoutrees planting to the home page pictures section.

March 16, 2000:

February 26, 2000:
- Added preliminary page about the KubKar District Finals with about 70 pictures!
February 24, 2000:
- Corrected to revised date for Company Part II at Cobourg. (First weekend is now June 2-4 rather than May 25-27 to avoid conflict with JamFest)
February 23, 2000:
- Pictures and report from 12th Whitby 'A' Beavers' Medieval Night held last fall.
- Scout-Guide Week logo added to home page.
- Removed old-dated link to former provincial page and added link to new "Town Hall Forum" in the home page links section.
February 20, 2000:

February 16, 2000:
- Added a full list of district winners to the 18-wheelers page.
- Added some pictures of this year's KubKar races.
February 14, 2000:
- Added new page about the Adopt-a-Trail and Adopt-a-Road projects taken on by our district.
- Small change to the forms page to reflect the new March 2000 revision of the national camping policy. Be sure you have the latest version of Acrobat Reader to avoid errors on some of the Scouts Canada documents.
February 13, 2000:

February 10, 2000:
- Revised Group Scoutrees summary form on the forms page.

- Many updates to the events page. Especially note the new dates for Road/Trail Cleanup and Scoutrees.
- Updates to the home page info section including a pointer to the CJ'01 program booklet.
- Several separate forms from the new Whitby camping resources document now on the forms page.
February 4, 2000:
- Added the new, revised Whitby Area Camping and Outdoor Activities resources guide to the forms page. Also, added a "request for fundraising approval" and "request for district recognition" forms.
January 24, 2000:
- Picture on the home page has been changed. See the certificate we got for membership-building.

1999:

December 9, 1999:
- Some new links regarding the 2000 Jamboree on the Trail and the 2001 Canadian Jamboree in the home page info section.
December 3, 1999:
- Added 18 new documents to the forms page, including all types of permission forms, camping checklist, etc., and the entire Whitby Camping and Outdoor Policies guide.
- September-October 1999 Lighthouse newsletter uploaded (extra links will be added later).
November 16, 1999:
- Added new ADC Venturers/Rovers to the contacts page.
November 7, 1999:
- Some forms are now available for your printing convenience: District canoe use application, float plan, training application
- Pictures of the Regional Sharing Session hosted by Whitby on Nov. 6 are now available

- Added links on the home page info section to new resources available from Scouts Canada: Religion in Life requirements, Q&A about Co-ed Scouting, reminder about the calendar contest deadline.
- Reorganized the home page with a section index at the top and a separate picture section, separated from the info section, which was getting too long.
- Added some bold headlines in the info section of the home page to make items easier to spot.
April 15, 1999:
- Added a few more links to the February/March Lighthouse.
- Fixed up this page with bold dates to make it easier to read (also added some links to yesterday's What's New entries).
- The Mind-It e-mail now contains a short summary of the things that are new (subscribe above if you're not already subscribed.)
April 14, 1999:

- Updated our information on the national co-ed Scouting decision again and added a link to the official report of the decisions made in November 1998 by the national council.
- Added a report and pictures of the 1998 Group Committee members training course.
- Added a report and pictures of 9th Whitby's cleanup day at their newly-adopted Manning Trail and park.
November 24, 1998:
- Updated the discussion about the national co-ed Scouting vote on our home page, to reflect the successful passage of the proposal.
November 23, 1998:
- Several new and changed email addresses on the contacts page.
- Be sure to let the DC know how many will be coming to the Christmas Dinner.
November 14, 1998:
- Major update to the Events page now includes most district events for this year. Please note new Date and Time for the Christmas party!
- Not noted before, but there are now links to training in adjoining regions at the top of the Training page.
- Added pages for Common Scout Jargon and Scouting Abbreviations and Initialisms useful for Whitby Area members.
- Added the Interamerican Region to the links on our home page to complete the geographical hierarchy, even though there's no link to a page for the Interamerican Region.
November 12, 1998:
- Added a link to the national co-ed Scouting page on our home page.
October 17, 1998:
- Corrected 18 dates on the training calendar which were marked 1998, but were, in fact, 1999

- On the Durham Region page (and soon on the Whitby Page too), there's a link to a page where you can read Usenet Newsgroups about Scouting on Alta Vista.
Feb. 22:
- Added a ``Be a Leader'' page with information on the advantages of volunteering for leadership
- Added a page detailing the highlights of each of the Scout sections.
- Updated registration figures on the home page and added links to official homepages of Scouts Canada and the Ontario Provincial Council
- Our new e-mail address, webmaster@whitbyscouts.org, is automatically forwarded to the editor, but the address is easier to remember.
Feb. 8:

- (I've had a tough time getting my computer going after a hard drive crash, so I've gotten a little behind. Sorry for the delay.)
- All pages modified to include a link to some other page at the bottom and there's an owner defined for the pages, so you can press C (in Lynx) anywhere on the page to send a comment
- Graphics upgrading on all pages, (Added a background to most for graphical browsers. Tell me if it causes you problems.)
- Updated the link to National Capital Region's Scout history page on the Durham Scouting Page
